More than 1200 children from grades 3 to 8 joined together to plant trees in Downsview Park's Canada Forest, play sports and help pick up litter. This event was the first of many as the Jewish National Fund launched a new 'Twinning' initiative with the Downsview Park Foundation and Parc Downsview Park Inc. (PDP) to plant trees in both the Canada Forest of Downsview Park and the Toronto Community Forest at Yatir, Israel—the next event takes place September 13. For every tree planted in Downsview Park, the same number of trees will be planted in Yatir.

More than 15,000 people 'rocked out' to 102.1 FM’s Edgefest ’09. Rain couldn’t stop the dedicated fans from soaking up the tunes from the likes of Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, K-OS and so many more. One dollar from every Edgefest ticket sold was donated to the Downsview Park Foundation, helping support and build Downsview Park.
