This edition of our e-newsletter highlights the high level of activity in the Park this summer. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting with many community members to discuss the Park’s evolution, today and for the future.

Parc Downsview Park Inc. has started the next phase of its progress by seeking partners for one of the Park’s neighbourhoods. Our goal is to find companies which demonstrate environmentally innovative practices and technologies. Already, we have discussed these plans with the general public at our Annual Public Meeting, to community groups at Executive meetings, to City staff in conversation, and to local councillors. So what’s new? We have issued a Request for Expressions of Interest (REI) to cover the Stanley Greene Neighbourhood.

The Park’s planned neighbourhoods respect both existing land use permissions, as well as current municipal and provincial guidelines. On these criteria PDP has overlaid our Sustainable Community Development Guidelines. Given the opportunity, plus our goals to achieve excellence in design and quality of life, we are excited about the future.

Our work with the City of Toronto and the Downsview Area Secondary Plan Review and Zoning Update was briefly interrupted by the City strike, however, we are now back on track and expect to be before City Council with the proposed Plan and zoning updates in fall 2009.

I welcome any questions you may have as we move forward to fulfill the mandate and vision that is Downsview Park. You can contact us either through a form on our website or send me an email directly to dsoknacki@downsviewpark.ca If telephone communication is best for you, give us a call at 416-952-2222.

All the best,
