The City of Toronto is reviewing and updating the Downsview Area Secondary Plan, which was approved in 1999 and was subsequently amended in 2001. A review and update of the Plan will ensure that the planning policies for the area are current and appropriate to guide future development and zoning. Much has changed for the better and we’re feeling confident that the new Secondary Plan will address the exciting plans in store for this process.

Parc Downsview Park Inc., the federal government-owned company responsible for the creation of Downsview Park (a park maintained on a self-financing basis), continues to work closely with the City of Toronto as they advance their Secondary Plan review and Zoning update process of the Downsview area—the key component of which and the inspiration for is Downsview Park. In fact, PDP is investing in the realization of the completion of this process, which is intended to establish the land use designation and permissions that will guide the development of the Downsview Park sustainable community.

In particular, the review will consider the Spadina Subway Extension which will include a new subway station near Sheppard Avenue and the CN rail line, and that will connect with the GO Transit rail service between Barrie and downtown Toronto.

We look forward to harmonizing our vision with that of the City of Toronto as we build Downsview Park into the unique landmark of which it was intended. The jewel in the crown of our thriving community and a great opportunity to learn about Canada and to have all Canadians learn about the wonders of Downsview Park.
