Welcome to another edition of this important communication vehicle for Downsview Park. As will be evidenced by all of the next pages, much has happened and much will continue to happen to make Downsview Park what it is intended to be—a place for all people. I want to encourage everyone to remain active outdoors and enjoy the seasons by coming to Downsview Park. Construction of the lake, the mound and the dynamic use of the space for the Trail of Lights and other activities solidify Downsview Park as a place as a destination in the City of Toronto and ultimately all of Canada and the world.

As you may know our annual Fall Fair engaged local families with free family fun which included pumpkin carving, scarecrow making and the highly entertaining West Coast Lumberjack Show. It was a true celebration of Canadian culture.

I’m pleased to welcome new businesses to the Park that I’m sure will increase your enjoyment and visits. The Canadian Motorsport Heritage Museum is busy prepping for their grand opening in early 2010. And construction is also underway in True North Climbing’s new facility at the Downsview Park Sports Centre, scheduled to open in the New Year.

Come see, first hand, how the face of this old military base is changing for the community. The Lake and Mound sites will be changing rapidly as the Lake’s excavation digs deeper and the Mound’s soil piles higher toward its 20-metre peak.

Continue to learn more about Downsview Park by experiencing the opportunities that we offer in the service to you—the Downsview Park user of today and tomorrow. A park is for people and my goal is to ensure that Downsview Park is a park for all Canadians in the Downsview community, in the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.

We look forward to you visiting as always. Together we will ensure Dowsnview Park will be the best it can be.

I welcome your comments and feedback as always.
